Apple Bars
Instructions
Yields: 12 bars
Ingredients:     1 tbsp. packed brown sugar
1  cup dried apples, finely chopped     1/3 cup peanut butter
 cup pecans, chopped      cup apple butter
3 cups Whole Grain Total Cereal      tsp. cinnamon
1/3 cup honey      cup quick oats
 cup golden raisins      cup dry roasted sunflower nuts
Preparation Directions:
~ Line the bottom and sides of an 8-inch square pan with foil and spray with cooking spray.  Sprinkle  cup of apples and  cup pecans over bottom of pan.  Place cereal in a plastic bag and coarsely crush.  Set aside.
~ In a large saucepan, heat  cup of apples, honey, raisins, and brown sugar to boiling over medium high heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to medium and cook 1 minute, stirring constantly; remove from heat.  Stir in peanut butter until melted, then apple butter and cinnamon.  Stir in oats and sunflower nuts until well mixed.  Add crushed cereal and stir until blended.
~ Press mixture very firmly and evenly onto apples and pecans in pan.  Sprinkle with remaining  cup apples and  cup pecans; press lightly into bars.  Refrigerate about 2 hours or until set.  Cut into bars.
