Antioxidant Smoothie

Choose your berry, or a mix of them. You want to go for frozen berries, and any type will do. From strawberries and raspberries to blueberries, blackberries and mixed berries. Kiwis are a great choice. The more colorful the fruit, the richer it is in antioxidants.

Grab a handful of your berries and throw into a blender or smoothie mixture.

Choose your base for the smoothie. Yogurt, milk, frozen yogurt and fruit juices make nice additions to smoothies. Add a half cup of the ingredient you choose to the blender mixture.

Throw in a handful of ice for a frozen, crunchy blended smoothie. Both ice cubes and shaved ice work well. Blending ice can be tough on your blender's blades. Choosing a machine made specifically for blending smoothies is a good idea.

Add additional nutrients if you're opting for the fullest health-packed punch. Powdered proteins, available at nutrition stores, are a great option. Whey powder is a popular choice.

Blend on full power to create your smoothie. Add cold water if you'd like the consistency to be thinner. For a thicker shake, add more fruit.
